First Impressions

One thing we have managed to notice while testing the SKIL RAS900 Router Table is how many people stopped to stare at it. Yes, it does look that good. Colors red and black look good together, and it is no wonder why the SKIL RAS900 was made in those colors. Simply put, it looks beautiful, and it is a great addition to anyone's workshop.

Another thing we have noticed at a first glance is that it saves up a lot of space. This router table is one of the best options for beginners who want the capabilities of a router table without having to spend a lot of money.

What do you get?

When you buy the this router table, you receive an MDF top, bit height gauge, featherboards, dust port, starting pin and guard, Quick Clamp router mount, and storage boxes. All of the accessories have a storage bag, and the MDF top is laminated.

The two included featherboards help you with accurate routing, and the starter pin and the bit height gauge help with setting everything up for when the accuracy of cuts is very important.

Storage

We could say that the smartest part of the SKIL RAS900 design is how neatly it folds up for storage. The guide rail is stored underneath the folded legs, and the router guides and accessories are stored in the leg-based compartments.

This helps immensely with storage space and neat organization. Everything is stored inside the table frame, making this router table easy to take with you if you need it somewhere besides your workshop.

Assembling

This is what most of the beginner woodworkers love about the SKIL RAS900  - it comes pre-assembled. It uses a folding design, which means that there aren't many parts which need to be put together. All you have to do is insert your router, and you can start working right away. It should take you around 30 minutes to set everything up.

Quick Clamp Mount

The SKIL RAS900 Router Table shows us that mounting a router doesn't have to be a complicated process thanks to the Quick Clamp Router Mount. Mounting a router is easy since the mounting plate is compatible with all of the major routers. We can only praise the Quick Clamp mount system since it saves you time and makes sure that you don't get frustrated while mounting your router. The Quick Clamp system can also help you with changing bits. All in all, we struggle to find any flaws in this system.

Not for heavy-duty Use

Even tho we have praised the folding table and legs ; we must say that it also makes them prone to bending. Plastic just doesn't provide enough of support for heavy-duty use, but the SKIL RAS900 is very light weighing only 32 pounds.

If you are planning on using this router table for detailed, light work, then you won't have any problems, but if you want to work with heavier stock pieces, you should try finding a different product.

With this model, you will go from box to routing in no time, and you will surely notice how much time and space it saves you if you have to move it around.
